There’s a popular saying that goes like this: YOU DON’T STOP DANCING BECAUSE YOU GOT OLD, YOU GET OLD BECAUSE YOU STOPPED DANCING! There is overwhelming evidence that DANCING, standing or in a chair, is not only a fun, social experience, but it’s also good for your health. Neurologists encourage DANCING to people with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions, for the best mind/body exercise. Cardiologists are urging heart patients to DANCE, considering it one of the best lifelong aerobics exercise. Orthopedists and rheumatologists recommend dancing to patients to strengthen bones and muscles, without hurting joints. Psychologists encourage their depressed and anxious patients to DANCE, to encourage the release of endorphins, the happy hormones in the brain. The class is experiential, discussion and lecture and will take us on a world journey of dance through cultures and around the globe. We’ll learn about the health benefits of dance and do some dancing in our chairs and/or standing. You don’t have to have rhythm nor know how to dance to participate. All you need is the willingness to participate and have fun. Not sure if you’ll be able to attend live? Sign up anyway! All participants will be sent a recording of the presentation.
